We recommend starting your alterations at least 10 weeks before your wedding. Any alterations scheduled within 10 weeks of the wedding may incur a rush fee. Giving yourself ample time for adjustments and fittings ensures that every detail is perfect before you walk down the aisle.
-
Every store prices their alterations differently. At The Alteration Suite we believe in transparent pricing. Please look out our Pricing Menu. Keep in mind that costs may increase with additional custom work. It’s always best to discuss pricing upfront when planning alterations to avoid surprises.

Most gowns require at least two fittings to achieve a perfect fit:
First fitting: Your seamstress will assess the fit, pin the necessary adjustments, and take your measurements.
Second fitting: You’ll try on the gown with the completed alterations to ensure a flawless fit.
Additional fittings: If you request custom changes, a third fitting may be necessary to finalize adjustments.
-
Shapewear: Bring any undergarments or shapewear you plan to wear on your wedding day.
Shoes: Your wedding shoes are essential for the first fitting. The height and slope of your shoes affect the way your gown falls, so they’re required even if you don’t need a hem adjustment.
Petticoats: If you plan to wear a petticoat for added volume, bring it with you.

We recommend bringing a small, trusted group—those whose opinions you value most. It’s also helpful to bring the person who will be bustling your gown on your wedding day. This allows us to show them exactly how to do it, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Once your gown is pinned and alterations are in progress, it’s important to maintain your current weight to ensure the perfect fit. Significant weight changes may require additional adjustments, which could increase costs. If you have fitness goals, discuss them with your alterations team upfront to set clear expectations.
